I’ve also got paste for the heatsink, and Nick’s gonna mail me Windows 7 64bit.

you forgot to name that monster.

Nice rig.

I’d recommend http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131402R&cm_re=am3-13-131-402R-Product this motherboard instead though. Pretty much identical to the one you already picked except it has no integrated video-card, making it 20$ cheaper. Of course that depends on the retailer. (And if you already paid for it.)

Looks like a pretty good setup to me. Just 2 things I’d change.

First is the mobo, get the one Sir Derick suggested, there’s no need to spend extra on some onboard graphics you won’t use.

Second, I would get a corsair PSU (personally, I like this one ), I’ve never had one fail on me yet.

Oh and it’s not absolutely essential, but I’d spend more on the case, that thing you’ve got listed there doesn’t look that nice to work with. When it comes to doing upgrades and working in the case in general you’ll appreciate something better designed, like an antec p180 or a Coolermaster CM-690 II Advanced Dominator (the latter is a dream for cable management).

Rage Only has 800 dollars to work with. He is already over but his mom said it was ok. He was going to buy windows 7, a 5770 and a case with a bunch of fancy LEDs.

I told him to ditch the expensive case and the copy of windows to get the better graphics card. I have two of those cases and they are not to bad. If he gets a cheaper mobo maybe he can go back to the more expensive case.

This is also why he needs a cheap PSU. Maybe he should get the cheap card and upgrade a couple other things but i know what I would want :P. He has a small monitor right now so the small card would be fine, but he may be looking into a bigger monitor.

I never looked at his motherboard I thought of that last night while I was falling asleep. What a failure.

In that case, some revised specs:

Get this PSU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139012

Ditch the 5850 and pick up a 5770: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814131330

Get this case: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811119215

That should give a grand total of around $750. You sacrifice a bit of graphics power but you’re screen (I’m told) is tiny anyway so it’s wasted until you move to a larger screen and at that point the 5770 will be still be able to play any game at modest settings regardless.

Alrighty, Dru, you’re amazing. :D Can’t wait to get this bitch and cut my hands to shreds putting it together.

Good call on the motherboard by the way Derick.
